Well I thought that having jam session recordings, slowed-down by the Amazing SD, on my iPod would make playing easier. Well, it didn't make it easier, it made it harder.
I realized a few things. One, my timing is way off, and all the little things that I do to fudge my way through a tune at a faster pace comes out in full color when played slow. I couldn't keep up with "Liberty" played slower than I usually do. My timing was not following the jam group at all. By the 3rd time playing the tune I started keeping up. I then went on to tackle Road to Boston, and by the time I was at Sandy Boys, my left hand was shot and wouldn't play the simplest fingerings and my intonation began to fall apart. I took a break.
Now I plan on attending 3 days at Fiddle Hell in Nov and I just learned that I'm in lousy PFS (Physical fiddle shape). I got a lot of work to do before I can play in lessons/jams for 3 days in a row.
Besides convenience, the amazing SD is to become a big learning tool.
