Remember, iron sharpens iron! There is nothing like getting out there and playing with someone who's a better player than you are. You learn more in an hour of jamming with good players than you do in a year of woodshedding. Seek out opportunities, share your knowledge and have a ripping good time while you're at it.
Just got back from Portland OR. What a hoot! Great attitudes, scenery to match. It's the land of Starbucks, I mean there is one everywhere, just down the street, backstage, in your hotel room, probably even on top of Mt Hood. Try playing Lee Highway with a ripping good caffine buzz on...it'll change your life!

Portland is awesome. The New Bad Habits were out ther in January and had a blast. Very vibrant young old-time and square dance scene there.
I do agree about playing with folks that play better than one's own self. I do that a lot. :-)

PS: Probably a Starbuck's at Timerline Lodge by now- not sure about the top o' the mountain however. :-)

Actually I think I can say that (if I've counted correctly) Kenosha, WI has more Starbucks per capita than Seattle. .......Your comment about playing with those better than you: Absolutely on the mark!
