This is an excellent example of the work of Collin-Mezin fils from a time when he was still influenced by the working methods of his father. In later years he began experimenting with modifications to the top arching, but this is before that period and therefore more desirable.



It has a beautiful one-piece back, a rarity among Collin-Mezin instruments. It was kept in almost immaculate condition for almost a century and has no damage. It has a powerful and mature voice and responds easily, a professional instrument in every respect.

He died in 1934. You missed that this is a Collin-Mezin fils not pere.

You're half right. Collin-Mezin fils was named Charles Louis but he is also known as Collin-Mezin II or Collin-Mezin fils to distinguish him from pere or Collin-Mezin III. He used the Charles J.B. Collin-Mezin label throughout his career.



If it helps to reduce confusion I will remove the "JB" from the title.

Looks VERY much like my fiddle. except mine just has the usual strad label...And could do with a clean and some TLC. Also no signature.
